My thoughts and prayers go out to Carl's family. Carl was one of the best and classiest gentlemen in the shoe business. They broke the mold with Carl. I wish we had 100 more like him. I always enjoyed visiting with him at his store or at trade shows and always enjoyed having dinner with him. You always had to fight him for the check. He will be missed but never forgotten. thanks, Greg Buckley , SAS SHOES.

Moving to NJ in 1978, I asked where to get a good pair of shoes. Many suggested Carl’s shoes in Moorestown. We took our children, my wife and I and our out of town parents to Carl’s whenever there was a need for shoes. My wife and I go to Mass each day and we saw Carl at either St. John Newman and OLGC on a daily basis. He was a pleasant, kind and truly Christian gentleman. We saw him a few months ago in the store and he always had a nice thing to say to customers who stopped by to say hello to him. He will be with his wife in heaven and keeping an eye on the store.

I got to know Carl's Shoe Store as a young boy. Carl's was the place you went to get a durable, well fitted pair of shoes. Every summer before school started there was always a trip to Carl's. Years later in high school I spent many a summer afternoon swimming in the Barone's back yard pool as my crew was friendly with Carlene's crew. Junior Prom Cappy Shingleton and I attended the prom with Carlene and Carol Barnaby. I would run into Mr. Barone many times over the decades that followed high school. If I was on Main Street I would always peek in at Carl's Shoes to see if Carl was in. Whenever I stopped in he always took the time to chat and reminisce about the years gone by. His store remains a fixture in town and he will be missed by all of us who were blessed to know him.
Carlene, Patty and your families I am truly sorry for your loss.
Sending you prayers and warm wishes.

Patty I am so sorry to hear of your father’s passing, he was a true Moorestown and Main St. icon. I will always remember him as kind, passionate, caring and loving. This world will be a lesser place without him.
