Obituary of Karin Persson
Karin Persson, 84, of Pennsauken, NJ passed away at home on December 29. Karin was a loving caring wife, mother, Mor-Mor and dear friend to many.
Karin was born May 22, 1936 in Sweden to the late Axel and Svea Nyman. She grew up in Sweden and after college immigrated to the U.S. in 1961 to pursue her nursing career. She met her husband Erik, who was also from Sweden. They married on April 21, 1962 at the Old Swedes Church in Philadelphia with her long time best friend Kerstin VanGilder by her side. She put her nursing career on hold to raise her daughters and run a tight ship. Years later she returned to nursing at Cooper Hospital. She then changed career paths and worked at the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia.
She lived a full life and enjoyed traveling. She was a talented seamstress, loved to knit, crochet and needlepoint. She was admired for being a great cook and enjoyed cooking for others. She also enjoyed eating, especially with the neighborhood lunch club.
Karin is survived by her loving husband Erik, daughters Kristina Wolfe (Marc) of Pennsauken; an Eva Boratto (Alfredo) of Lower Gwynedd PA. Her most precious grandchildren who she loved with all her heart Marc, Marissa, and Max Wolfe; Alex, Emma and Evan Boratto. She is also survived by her sister Gunilla Friden and many nieces and nephews in Sweden and predeceased by her brother Acke of Sweden. She leaves behind many dear friends who she always enjoyed spending time with.
Services will be private and a celebration of her life will be held sometime in 2021.
